Taking example from Richard Avedon's portrayal of the Duke & Duchess, I wanted to capture my parents in one of those posed, yet not quite perfect moments, when the personality speaks through the photograph. This was one of those "Yes dear" moments. I used an ISO of 1600 to capture as much noise as possible and age the image. I asked them both to dress in black to create positive and negative contrasting spaces, and I like the way the space between them draws the eye in to the faces.Friday, 5 February 2010
